Kaiser could not stay still as he was led out of the trailer and tacked, making it quite difficult for his handler to saddle him. Every little thing distracted him, whether it be other cats, other handlers, cars, trucks, trailers, people, and even the occasional leaf, which he proceeded to attempt to pounce on. Luckily for Katherine, who was already decked out in her silks, Kaiser was already tied to keep him in one place, though he did not like the resistance the lead rope had and pouted for a few moments, giving his handler time to quickly hoist the saddle onto his back. He wanted that leaf...
Katherine couldn't help but chuckle at her cat's pouty face. He never failed to entertain, that was for certain. And he’d come quite a long ways…though he still had some work to do when it came to keeping calm. After successfully tacking Kaiser, she slipped her blue and white helmet over her head, her long hair still trailing out from under the helmet, then hauled herself up into the saddle, and the two made their way to the gates.
Kaiser was kept on a tight leash, or rein in this case, as he seemed to want to roughhouse with the other cats that were there, and some seemed to want to do the same to him. He didn’t resist Katherine’s commands now, though, as he knew he could get his head pulled a bit if he did. But upon approaching the gates, he was calm…
Until they closed around him and his rider, that is.
Katherine shared the excitement her cat was beginning to feel as the two tensed up, ready to be released onto the track.
“C’mon, Kaiser. You got this,” she murmured in her cat’s ear. The gates sprang open, and Kaiser bolted forward, Shedu and rider both wanting to show what they were capable of.
